If you have shoulder pain or your shoulder frequently dislocates (“comes out”), you may have a labral tear.

The labrum is a thick band of tissue that surrounds the shoulder socket.

In cases of recurrent (frequent) shoulder dislocations, the anteroinferior labrum (inferior glenohumeral ligament) tears. It is very important to repair it to restore shoulder stability.

A torn labrum can be repaired through a procedure called “Bankart repair.”
